Boxes are pretty dumb. They do one thing really well, though: keep things from spilling everywhere. One day, someone figured out that stuff could be written on the sides of boxes, and the first branding consultant probably found a job shortly thereafter. How the seemingly simple cereal box gets made from start to finish is a case study in the labyrinthine process of the modern corporate environment.

Out of total curiosity, why is it that Pringles have a resealable lid when (as stated by the advertisement as well as from personal experience) after you have popped you just can’t stop?
