Farmer’s Insurance and Marvel Comics have teamed up to bring you something incredibly silly, thanks to the Avengers movie. Ever wanted to look like an Avenger? You might have that chance. Check out the video from Farmer’s and then hit up their Facebook page, where they’ve posted Do-It-Yourself Avengers costumes like the ones in the video. I have a feeling these will be big at Halloween…or maybe not. Either way, it’s all in good fun and it’s completely silly, so just enjoy it.
Nissan and Habitat for Humanity have teamed up to make an interesting and potentially humorous partnership – all for a good cause. Nissan’s created an interactive video experience in which YOU command their builders to interact in their environment, either in helpful or humorous ways. Interact properly – such as telling the builder to “clean the window” – and you’ll get points. Tell them to “break the window” and you’ll get a humorous interaction that could also land you a few points.
Rack up enough points to get on the top 100 Scorers and you’ll score a personalized video from Nissan along with a t-shirt. This has to be the one of the World’s coolest guitars ever. I guess I really should say geekiest. It might be hard to find someone that can shred hard enough and also be nerdy enough to deserve such an ax. From the maker of this fine instrument, Travis Stevens:
I used a vintage Millennium Falcon toy / playset for the body. As it’s an electric guitar, the body material is relatively unimportant (in comparison to acoustic instruments) so i just had to concern myself with building the necessary structural elements of the instrument into the toy.
Since the aging plastic wouldn’t be able to withstand the tension of the strings, I pieced together a maple block running from end to end inside the ship. The bridge, neck, and strap pins connect to this piece; while attached firmly with some powerful glues the toy itself is almost entirely cosmetic.
The top of the toy has been routed out for the electronics, including some switch activated LEDs. Those required separate battery packs, which I made accessible using the structure of the toy; one pack is hidden in the original battery compartment while the other is attached to the ramp door that was designed to open.
