So, this was sent in by a TopCultured reader that wishes to remain anonymous. She has informed us that this has been an ongoing betting pool involving roughly a dozen employees of the Lake Shore Nursing Home. Pretty sure this is fake, it’s got to be. I cannot believe that there are actually individuals who make light of, and money from the passing of an elderly person. As it turns out, no such address exists and as commenters have pointed out, the domain isn’t registered. Nice one, anon!
Speaking of Google, and maps and stuff that are fake… Here’s one REAL Google review that has turned out to be the best review ever!

FIRST
I’m sorry, but if this is true, then this anonymous person that submitted this should have taken it to the proper authorities and not a website. This is clearly wrong on so many levels and, if true, posting this on here with names of residents must violate some kind of privacy of information for these residents. If anything this website should take this to authorities and not be posting it to the internet for shits and giggles.
I hope this is fake and my worries are not necessary.
Much like someone that handles corpses all day, or works in a prison or other region of society that people don’t want to deal with (which is why you put your grandparents there in the first place), one has to have a sense of humor for these types of things.
I assumed that this was some kind of reference to neglect or abuse, but this memo is simply betting on what would happen anyway. This is something that happens all the time, everywhere, in any field.
Shocking? Kinda, but not really. It’s shocking that you would consider something like this to be news.
address does not exist
This is a total hoax – and not even a good one. There’s no such nursing home, the URL is fake as is the address.
There is no nursing home by this name located in CA. EPIC FAIL!!!!
This address doesnt even come up. Does anybody ever check anything anymore?
It’s fake — no such domain. Perhaps you should do a little investigation into what you receive rather than just post anything a ‘reader’ sends you. You have no credibility.

When working in the healthcare industry you deal with death, working at a nursing home you deal with death ALL THE TIME. Death is (of course) very sad and seeing it and its’ effects on family on a day to day basis there HAS to be some way to separate yourself from it.
This is a total fake. There is no nursing home under that name there, the phone number is a private unlisted number (and I’m betting they are pissed). Also the domain is a fake. Next time maybe someone needs to check the facts a little better.
Dude, WTF.
I’d be careful about putting this type of post up, as mostly likely it’s fake.
For all you know, it could be a great nursing home and the staff could be deeply insulted by this.
If it’s not true, the damage will already be done. Their income may be affected, jobs may be lost.
And it will be your fault.
fake.
i looked up the address on google maps, no such retirement home exists.
Bet big on Larry and I’ll pretend to be his grandson, I’m doing all the hard work so we’ll split it 70/30.
Fake. 1:1 odds mean that you make no money. if you win, you only get your money back. But if anyone knows where there are real pols of these, I am in.
Its a deathpool. Surprised? Really? They are more frequent than sports pools.
“Moral hazard” is gravely imminent.
Kinda bummed this is fake…I would join.
To everyone who claims that this is fake: DUH!
