The sad part about this is that although we can laugh at it, it might be more accurate than we’d like to admit. I wonder if you ask a varying cross-section of the US population what their foreign knowledge and concerns are where “terrorism” would fit on that list. I’ll bet it’s #1. Ahead of hunger, genocide, environmental concerns, etc.
I guess what they say is true….well not necessarily that it’s true but that we live by it here…ignorance is bliss. There is only so much time in the day and why educate ourselves about things out side of our great nation. There is only so much time between shopping for Little Debbie Cakes at Walmart and flopping down on the couch for another episode of The Middle or Community. Long live the American dream. Now give me a full body scan, grope me and let me grab my damn latte as I head down to Georgia for the State fair where I can sample some deep-fried butter or better yet deep-fried pop-tart!

wow you are so cosmopolitan! what a new and interesting argument you have brought to the national discourse! what are you 17?
My 3 month old puppy does better photshop out on my lawn. Does digg really need the cynical musings of an ill-educated teenager?

notice that even your own self image is blurry.
It's cute when children think they came up with something original.
I think a more appropriate title for the second image would be, "How the rest of the world thinks the U.S. sees the rest of the world"
Nice try though :(
this wasnt even witty or close to a good jab at americans. all you did was take an unoriginal idea and make it worse.
My personal improvement.

wow the rest of the world does not know there are 7 continents. Nuke 'em and grab there oil, gold and diamonds.
Wow unoriginal and ignorant view expressed in an unfunny way.
stay classy Scotty
also, way to look like a hipster douche in your pic.
I think this joke is actually old enough to drink by now.
Completely unoriginal and I've seen images and movies based on this premise for the past 10 years. Why should we care about this one?
Talk about lame, you must be a Euro who has never really met an American
How lame, and its kind of an old joke too.
I bet A) you are American B) this more accurately reflects your own limited view of the world and C) you couldn't stand up to a test of world knowledge against a randomly selected group of 5th graders in America. Your view definitely does not reflect the rest of America. I don't approve of many policies America has, including the latest clamp down on our civil liberties over falsely inflated terrorists threats, but to say we're blind to the rest of the world and it's issues tells a lot about your own lack of knowledge.
To your point about your own ignorance regarding America's contributions to fighting world hunger: You can partially blame America's trade policies for contributing to the hunger issues in many regions, but America is also the top contributor to food programs run by UN, the overwhelming support from the private community (charitable, scientific, etc.) is largely US based. The contributions far outweigh the negatives, although we should continue to strive to eliminate the negative effects of our misguided trade policies.
I urge you to read up on a war we Americans call WWII before getting too deep into the genocide discussion – we didn't go there for that, but we helped fix it and its an issue pretty close to many Americans' hearts. Here too, however, you can point to shortcomings in American involvement – we should be doing more particularly in northern Africa to help save our fellow humans' lives and prosecute murderers. While we were the first to label the Darfur genocide for what it was, we're still not doing enough to prosecute them. While we have been slow to call the Armenian Genocide for what it was (this was WWI-ish, you may need to google it, or whatever you kids do these days), we were one of the first nations to take action in providing humanitarian aid.
Environmental concerns? Okay, have you ever even left the United States? People are up in arms over the environment (and I live in the South not in California). I don't know a single person (and I'm not left wing either) who doesn't rank the environment as a leading concern – we recycle, we continuously are pushing our political establishment to crack down even tougher laws, damn the consequences. To say the country's government isn't moving fast enough, or that we're not doing enough to "save the environment" is one thing – to say it is not a top concern for Americans is just ignorant.
Please stop embarrassing our country – you should take a year off and hike around the world, stay at some hostels, camp in the desert, etc.
