So, the story goes… Danny Thomson was in the batting cage, pitching the ball to his brother. One of those times, Danny wasn’t standing safely behind the net and the ball was hit right back at him at around 100mph and hit him right on the left cheek. The bones inside his face were broken and coming through the skin squirting blood everywhere. Here are the pictures from day 1 (where he looks exactly like Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy) to recovery:

Day 1 after getting hit in the face
The rest of the pictures are accompanied by descriptions of what you’re seeing and documents the recovery process:
- 2 days after the accident
- 20 days after the accident
- October 30, 2008. I had surgery fixing shattered left cheek, broken jaw, broken nose, right cheek under eye, I got 11 plates, 5 screws and a wire inside holding from my jaw up and eye together.
- You can see the pieces of bone all over the place
- right after the surgery in the hospital
- 2 weeks after surgery, about to get bandages off
- 18 days after the surgery… There is still pain occasionally. Just starting to chew really soft food now, I’ve lost around 10 pounds only eating jello and pudding for the last month and a half.
- After getting the bandages off. All the swelling is almost gone
- almost fully recovered
- Fully recovered one year later. Fully healed and the plates are dissolving, there will only be the screw itself left after a few years.
