It’s no longer a question of “if”? The new question is “when will the growth of smartphone and tablet adoption reach the majority of the world population?” Already the world is buying more smartphones than computers; in some countries, the smartphone is the computer for many who cannot afford both.
This graphic tells the tale of previous disruptions around society that have been fueled by technological innovations and points to mobile personal technology as the next big disruption. “Next” may not be accurate. It appears we’re already there.
