Well call me Nostradamus if you must (I mean my Photoshopped picture could almost be this one) but in yesterday’s post on NBA birthday boys I predicted that James would need to score at least 41 points to edge out Michael Jordan as the #1 average birthday scorer. Well he went a few better. He had 48 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, went 14 for 16 from the free-throw line, 4 for 6 from three-point range and went on to win his first ever b-day game with the Cavaliers beating the Hawks 106-101.

The game deciding basket was made by Andersen Varejao, a 3-pointer with 17.2 seconds left, as the shot clock was expiring. It was Varejao’s first career  3-pointer, he’s previously 0 for 18. “That’s a great gift,” James said. “I had Andy in the gift exchange and so he paid me back. That’s what friends are for.”

Happy 25th King James

With LeBron James playing the Hawks at 7PM EST and celebrating his 25th birthday today, I’m sure we’ll see some nasty highlights on tomorrow’s SportsCenter. I thought it would be interesting to look into how some of the top NBA stars have done playing the day they were born.

Due to scheduling, and I’m sure some players take the day off, game days and birthdays don’t always match up. Also, there are a lot of players that never have this opportunity with their birthday falling in the off-season. Some notables that don’t get the joy are Allen Iverson, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson, Manu Ginobilli, Pete Maravich, Rasheed Wallace, Ray Allen, Tracy McGrady and Wilt Chamberlain. A few of the all-time greats like Bill Russell, Karem Abdul-Jabar and Oscar Robertson do have birthdays during the season but the individual game statistics weren’t available throughout their careers.

Every now and then, something happens in your life that is so monumental, so Earth-shaking, that you have no choice but to share it with nearly everyone you know. The question is, how do you do it?

Finding out you have a venereal disease can be a humiliating discovery. Still, its important that you come to terms with it quickly. It’s even more important to notify your most recent partner, just to be safe, no matter how uncomfortable it might make you. They have a right to know, just… let them down gently. I might suggest something like this:
